International Symposium "Think Together Now about Geological Disposal -Learning from Efforts Made around the World-" was held
The final disposal of high-level radioactive waste is a common issue for all countries that utilize nuclear power. In the past dialogues, many people showed interest in the background of international discussions and the status of efforts made in other countries. In response to such interest, on March 28, 2016, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and NUMO co-hosted an international symposium about geological disposal with two keynote speakers from Sweden: Ms. Saida Laârouchi Engström, Vice President of the Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Company (SKB) which is the implementer of geological disposal and Mr. Jacob Spangenberg, Mayor of Östhammar Municipality which has Forsmark selected by SKB as the planned construction site for the disposal facility. SKB has been organizing many dialogues with local governments and people over a long period and has built relationships of mutual trust with them. Ms. Engström and Mr. Spangenberg suggested various lessons learned from their experiences. The panel discussion focused on three main topics: "safety of geological disposal," "public and local understanding, and consensus building," and "compensation." The programme is as follows:

The personal information you provide is used to respond to your inquiries and provide you with relevant information such as public meetings. It is not used for any other purpose.
2 Management of Personal Information

In addition, in the case of transferring the personal data of residents of the EEA (European Economic Area) from the EEA to another region including Japan, NUMO properly protects the collected information in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (hereafter “GDPR”).
3 Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties
NUMO does not disclose or provide your personal information to third parties without your consent. However, personal information may be provided in the case of the need to protect human life, body, or individual property and obtaining your consent is not feasible.
4 Outsourcing of Personal Information Handling
In the event of outsourcing some or all of the provided personal information to the extent necessary to achieve the purpose of use, we select contractors that sufficiently fulfill the required level of personal information protection and supervise and manage the contractors.
5 Retention Period of Personal Information
We retain personal information during the period necessary for the purpose of use.
6 Disclosure of Personal Information
Regarding your personal information, you may request to be notified of the purpose of use, the disclosure, correction, additional and deletion of your personal information, and the suspension of its use or provision to third parties (hereafter collectively referred to as "disclosure").
